9th and 10th Grade:
Review of the student’s academic transcript and personal credentials in order to evaluate and assist in high school course selection and course rigor for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
Assist student with evaluating summer programs, internships, employment, community service opportunities, and cultural travel as needed to maximize student's interests and preparation for college
Plan a schedule for taking standardized tests and select appropriate test preparation methods for student
11th Grade:
Review of the student’s academic transcript and personal credentials in order to evaluate and assist in high school course selection and course rigor for 11th and 12th grade
Assist student with evaluating summer programs, internships, employment, community service opportunities, and cultural travel as needed to maximize student's interests and preparation for college
Assist student in determining which standardized tests to take and then plan a schedule for taking SAT, ACT, and/or SAT Subject Tests
Administration of surveys/worksheets to assist with identifying majors and careers of interest as well as college qualities and characteristics
Generate a preliminary list of colleges to explore and visit
Guide family through the process of planning productive and informative college visits
Prepare student for college interviews as needed (both admissions and alumni)
Advise student athletes with regard to packaging themselves effectively, recruitment opportunities, campus visits, and other unique procedures
Assist with development of student resume
Prepare "All About Me" form-a detailed list of extracurricular activities, awards, honors, and accomplishments; employment and internships; community service; summer activities; hobbies and interests
Initial essay assistance, especially in the summer before senior year
12th Grade:
Review student’s academic transcript and personal credentials
Evaluate senior year course selection and extracurricular involvement based on the student’s current college aspirations
If needed, plan an effective test schedule for taking any remaining standardized tests
Organize timelines with student and discuss the college application process in depth with student and parent(s)
List refinement of college choices to include an appropriate number which are “likely,” “match,” or “reach” uniquely suited to each student
Determine appropriateness of Early Action/Early Decision options for student
Provide guidance on teacher and guidance counselor recommendations
Essay review and detailed feedback
Brainstorm ideas and topics for the personal statement and/or supplemental essays
Edit completed drafts (including spelling, grammar, and efficiency/effectiveness of writing)
Generate ideas and edit for individual school supplements
Application review and assistance
Interview assistance (both admissions and alumni)
Review financial aid options and identify schools more likely to give merit-based scholarships
Advise student with final college selection, including evaluation of financial aid packages
